A phenomenon in the US, Glee follows an optimistic secondary school teacher as he attempts to inspire an oddball group of students to realise their star potential and restore the school’s show choir – the glee club – to its former glory. Lea plays Rachel Berry the lead singer of McKinley’s Glee Club. Daughter of an inter-racial same-sex couple, Rachel is driven and extremely ambitious. She joins Glee club in the hopes of becoming a star one day and increasing her popularity. Her talent as a singer is obvious and she quickly gains her place in the club however her intolerable personality and selfishness means she is mostly kept on the outskirts of the group and, only Finn seems to understand her. As the show progresses Rachel learns that there is more to life than becoming a star and the friendships she makes within the club change her personality and perspective.
